Favorite City.

I love my little ‘city’ in Northern Colorado. It’s been my home my whole entire life and I know it so well. It’s not too big and not too small… 140,000 people. Our downtown was the inspiration for Main Street in Disneyland. It’s almost always sunny and warm, and when it’s not it’s usually snowy and romantic.

My favorite real city is Salt Lake City, Utah. Talk about mountain views. Salt Lake it the most beautiful city on the whole planet, I am firmly convinced. The grass just seems greener, the people are friendlier, the air is fresher. I’m going to move to SLC as soon as I possibly can. It’s a gorgeous artistic culture that has people from every single walk of life.

And then there’s New York City. I’ve never been, but I’m pretty sure I’m already in love with it. As soon as I go I know I’m never going to want to come home. It scares me, a little, how much I love New York.

I SKIPPED DAY 13. because ‘Your favorite picture of yourself’ is totally lame. Why? No. just no.

So. It takes both intelligence and creativity to be a genius. if I could have only ONE of these, which would I pick?

If you had asked me this a few months ago, my answer would have been instantaneous. Creativity. Intelligence without creativity is useless. It loses it’s power, because anyone can be smart, but it takes a special person to be able to use those smarts. It’s like the age old battle between emotion and logic. Using nothing but logic, it would take someone an hour to decide whether they would take the stairs or the elevator- they would have to lay out every single pro and con. It’s that way when using just intelligence. Just because you are smart enough to get the right answer doesn’t mean you know how or why or why it’s important.

My answer is still creativity. I would rather be able to feel, and to write, and to create art than be the smartest person in the world. (Besides, I’m pretty sure my brother with the full- ride scholarship wins the ‘smartest person in the world’ contest.) But I’m a little slower to respond nowadays. Creativity is fickle. It shows itself in emotion but refuses to be captured into any medium I can think of. I’ve lost my creativity, and if anyone finds it please, please bring it back. I miss it. And I know for a fact I need it.

This is fantastic. I love those two.

My perfect summer day.

It would involve…

Tubing down a river.
Delicious food.
Fireworks.
Family.
Friends.
Star- gazing.

I think that’s all.

Except for ice cream. I need lots of ice cream.
And a good book.
And a quiet place to just sit and write for a while.
